Pierre Fauchar was born in 1678, is considered the father of modern dentistry.He is recognized for his book "the dentist surgeon" where described the dental anatomy, basic oral funtion, oral pathology, repair and replacement of tooth, to extract teeth with cavities, periodontal disease, orthodontic and others. His book was the first that scientifically described dentistry.
Pierre was a doctor by profession but developed oral and maxilofacial surgery, he created various tools to be able to treat the teeth, adapting tolls to repair watches or used by barbers or jewelers, he also discovered how tooth decay occurs and invented the method for restoring them. He also discoverd the method to restore lost teeth replaced by bone for example.
In 1718 he moves to France, where he realizes that the are no books about dentistry, so he decides to start writing one, collects medical books, interviews other dentists and draws in his own experiencie.
In 1723 Pierre at the 45 year old, he finish the book" le chirurgien dentiste". This book was published in 1728.
i like Fauchar because i considered that this person is the most important in the history of dentistry and the development of this as a scientific career.
